Charley Pride's life will be the subject of a feature film that is expected to be shot in 2008 in Memphis, film director Craig
Brewer told The Commercial Appeal newspaper. Brewer also directed 2005's rap-themed Hustle & Flow. Actor
Terrence Howard, who received an Oscar nomination for his work in Hustle & Flow, has been cast as Pride. Brewer
said the actor suggested the idea for a film biography of Pride's life. During the filming of Hustle & Flow, Howard
noted he preferred country music to rap. However, Brewer will first finish writing the script for another film, Maggie
Lynn, about a woman trying to make it in country music. Although he doesn't expect to write the script for the Pride biopic,
Brewer said he hopes to shoot the film in Memphis and Nashville.
