Country music is back on the air in Los Angeles after 540 AM dropped its pop standards format in favor of contemporary country.
Although it has the second-highest country sales in the U.S., Los Angeles lost its only station in August when KZLA-FM switched
to a pop format. Now called 540 Country, the Mount Wilson Broadcasting-owned station will bring in several DJs from KZLA-FM
as staff and will air the Grand Ole Opry.
