Country music dominated the RIAA's multi-platinum certifications during the month of October, according to statistics released
Wednesday (Nov. 13). Five of eight multi-platinum certifications were awarded to country artists, including Alan Jackson,
whose Greatest Hits Collection, released in 1995, was certified for shipments of 6 million copies. As previously reported,
Gretchen Wilson's debut album, Here for the Party, was certified for shipments of 5 million copies. Other certifications
went to George Strait's Greatest Hits (4 million), Keith Urban's Be Here (4 million) and Trace Adkins' Songs
About Me (2 million). Non-country multi-platinum certifications were awarded to Ciara, Fred Hammond and Nickelback.
