Western swing bandleader Bob Wills will be honored posthumously with the Recording Academy's lifetime achievement award at
a ceremony during the upcoming Grammy Week activities in Los Angeles. Others announced for the award include Joan Baez, Booker
T. & the MGs, opera singer Maria Callas, jazz saxophonist Ornette Coleman, the Doors and the Grateful Dead. Wills, who
died in 1975, was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1968. The Recording Academy will also bestow trustees awards
on Stax Records co-founder Estelle Axton, New Orleans recording studio owner Cosimo Matassa and Broadway composer Stephen
Sondheim. The 49th annual Grammy Awards will be held Feb. 11 at Staples Center.
