Dolly Parton has been named Tennessean of the Year by The Tennessean, Nashville's largest daily newspaper. In addition
to her music, Parton was recognized for her Imagination Library which provides free books to preschool children until they
enter kindergarten. Since Parton began the organization in 1996 in her native Sevier County, the program has grown to every
county in Tennessee, as well as 42 states and several Canadian provinces. Parton told the newspaper that the Dollywood Foundation
sent out 3 million books in 2006 and expects to mail 7 million books in 2007.
