Grammy nominees Carrie Underwood, Alan Jackson and the Dixie Chicks were among those artists receiving gold and platinum certifications
from the RIAA for the month of January. Although many artists and labels independently announce the certifications, the RIAA
released the monthly report Friday (Feb. 9). Multi-platinum certifications went to Underwood's Some Hearts (5 million
copies serviced to retail), the Chicks' Taking the Long Way (2 million), Kenny Chesney's The Road and the Radio
(3 million) and Brad Paisley's Time Well Wasted (2 million). Commemorating shipments of 500,000 copies, gold certifications
went to Jackson's Like Red on a Rose, Chesney's Live: Live Those Songs Again, Craig Morgan's My Kind of Livin',
Kellie Pickler's Small Town Girl and Taylor Swift's self-titled debut.
