Montgomery Gentry's Troy Gentry was sentenced to three months of probation and a $15,000 fine on Friday (Feb. 23) in Duluth,
Minn., on charges of tagging a captive bear as wild after he killed it. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge in November.
As part of a plea deal, Gentry will forfeit the 600-pound black bear and the bow he used during the hunt and will not hunt
in Minnesota for five years. The bear, which was named Cubby, was killed in October 2004 near Sandstone, Minn. Gentry reportedly
paid $4,650 for the orchestrated hunt on a private wildlife preserve.
