Confederate Railroad is celebrating its 25th anniversary as a band with a new CD, Cheap Thrills, released Tuesday (April 24) on Shanachie Records. The album includes several country covers, including Charlie Daniels' "Trudy." Daniels also sings on the track. The band notched several Top 10 hits in the early 1990s, including "Queen of Memphis" and "Trashy Women." ... Other new releases this week include Golden Smog's EP, Blood on the Slacks (Lost Highway), John Prine and Mac Wiseman's Standard Songs for Average People (Oh Boy), Dale Watson's From the Cradle to the Grave (Hyena) and the expanded and remastered soundtrack for 1997's Hope Floats featuring tracks by Sheryl Crow, Lyle Lovett, Trisha Yearwood, Bob Seger and Martina McBride, Deana Carter, the Mavericks and others.
