Country veteran Gene Watson and singer-songwriter Tammy Cochran have signed with Shanachie Entertainment and will release new CDs this year. Watson's album, still untitled but set for release in September, will feature new songs and new versions of several of the singer's favorite country classics. It will be produced by Brent Rowan, whose previous production credits have included projects with Joe Nichols, Blake Shelton and Julie Roberts. Watson has more than 20 Top 10 singles to his credit since 1975. ... Scheduled for July 31 release, Cochran's Where I Am contains 12 original songs and was co-produced by Mark Thompson and Anita Cochran (no relation). Previously signed to Epic Records, Tammy Cochran reached the Top 10 in 2001 with "Angels in Waiting."
