Hugh Jarrett, a member of the Jordanaires from 1954 through 1958, died Saturday (May 31) in Atlanta. He was 78. Jarrett had
sustained injuries from a car accident in March. The Jordanaires sang on numerous pop and country hits in the 1950s, most
notably with Elvis Presley. After leaving the harmony group, Jarrett found fame as a disc jockey at WLAC/Nashville as "Big
Hugh Baby." He also appeared on the TV series, In the Heat of the Night. Jarrett is a member of the Gospel Music Hall
of Fame and the Georgia Music Hall of Fame but is not included among the Jordanaires lineup that was inducted into the Country
Music Hall of Fame in 2001.
