Dale Earnhardt, Johnny Cash Honored With "Man in Black" Car
The legacies of Johnny Cash and Dale Earnhardt are being honored with "The Man in Black" car that was unveiled Thursday (June 5) at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville. Emphasizing country music's close connection with NASCAR, the Chevy features Earnhardt's famous No. 3 paint scheme with Cash and Earnhardt's names and likenesses on the sides and hood of the car. It's the first car in a multi-year series that will continue the legacy of Earnhardt by teaming him up with other iconic American personalities. A die-cast miniature of the vehicle will be marketed by Motorsports Authentics through its Action Racing Collectables brand. Taylor Earnhardt, the driver's daughter, and Tommy Cash, Johnny Cash's younger brother, attended Thursday's ceremony. Others present included Delbert McClinton, NASCAR artist Sam Bass and Marshall Grant, former bassist for Johnny Cash's band, the Tennessee Two.
