Rosanne Cash Will Headline Johnny Cash Flower Pickin' Festival
Rosanne Cash will deliver the headlining performance at the second annual Johnny Cash Flower Pickin' Festival taking place
Oct. 17-19 in Starkville, Miss., the town where her late father was arrested in 1965. Johnny Cash was jailed for public drunkenness
following a performance at Mississippi State University. He later offered a humorous account of the incident in "Starkville
City Jail," his song that claims he was arrested while picking flowers at 2 a.m. During the first festival, the city of Starkville
and Oktibbeha County issued symbolic pardons which will be renewed annually. Marshall Grant, Johnny Cash's longtime bassist
who helped organize the festival, said, "For everything he did, something good seemed to come out of it. Starkville is a good
example." Others performing at this year's festival include Cash family friend Billy Joe Shaver.
