George Jones and Barbra Streisand are among those selected for the 31st annual Kennedy Center Honors for lifetime achievements
in the performing arts. Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey of the Who, actor Morgan Freeman and choreographer Twyla Tharp will
also be honored during an all-star gala taking place Dec. 7 in Washington, D.C. The night before the tribute, Secretary of
State Condoleezza Rice will host a dinner for the honorees at the State Department. On the day of the event, President Bush
will present them with medals recognizing their contributions. Jones was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1992.
