George Strait, Reba McEntire Rank Highest in Political CMT Poll
George Strait earned the most confidence in a field of country artists
to be president, while Reba McEntire is the favored vice presidential
candidate, according to a new CMT poll. Strait earned 23 percent of the vote, with McEntire close behind at 22 percent. Meanwhile,
McEntire was the top choice when country fans were asked who would make the best running mate for John McCain (25 percent)
as well as Barack Obama (18 percent). In the presidential tally, Trace Adkins
and Alan Jackson tied for third with 14 percent, trailed by Kenny
Chesney and Brad Paisley with 6 percent. Other contenders included
Carrie Underwood (5 percent), Keith
Urban (4 percent) and a tie between Alison Krauss, Rascal
Flatts' Gary LeVox, Martina McBride and Sugarland's
Jennifer Nettles (2 percent).
