Kevin Costner and Modern West will headline the 2008
Chevy CMA Awards kickoff concert scheduled for Nov. 11 in front of the Sommet Center in Nashville.
Rodney
Atkins, the
Eli Young Band and
Heidi
Newfield will also perform during the free outdoor concert that calls attention to the CMA Awards show scheduled for Nov.
12 at the Sommet Center. Newfield opens the show at 4 p.m., and Costner and his band are scheduled to go onstage at 6:30 p.m.
Costner won two Academy Awards -- best director and best picture -- for his 1990 film,
Dances With Wolves. However,
prior to his major success as an actor, director and producer, he and Modern West member John Coinman founded Roving Boy,
a band based in Los Angeles.
