Steve Martin released his first full-length music album, The Crow: New Songs for the Five-String Banjo, on Tuesday
(Jan. 27), as an Amazon.com exclusive for 90 days. Martin wrote the 15 tracks for the project produced by his longtime friend,
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band member John McEuen. Guests include Vince Gill, Dolly Parton
and Earl Scruggs, as well as Mary Black, Tim
O'Brien, Tony Trischka and Pete Wernick. Martin will host and perform
on Saturday Night Live on Saturday (Jan. 31). ... In related news, bluegrass releases this week include Audie Blaylock
and Redline (Rural Rhythm) and Dry Branch Fire Squad's Echoes of the Mountains (Rounder).
