Vince Gill, Guy Clark Trade New Songs at Hall of Fame
Vince Gill performed his second concert as the Country Music Hall of Fame
and Museum's artist-in-residence on Tuesday night (Feb. 17) at the museum's Ford Theater. Along with numerous selections from
his catalog, Gill offered a few new songs and also invited his longtime friend, singer-songwriter Guy
Clark, on stage to perform. Explaining the stories behind several of his newer songs, Gill told the audience that "The
Lucky Diamond Motel" was inspired by growing up about a mile from Route 66 in Oklahoma. In addition, Gill credited his wife
Amy Grant as a co-writer of "Heaven" and said he wrote "Forever Changed"
about his anger at adults who hurt innocent children. After Gill invited him to the stage, Clark announced that he has completed
a new album and previewed it with two new songs, "Some Days the Song Writes You" and "Hemingway's Whiskey."
