Reckless Kelly was named best performing band in the country category
of the Austin Music Awards. Wednesday's (March 18) announcement on the Austin
Chronicle Web site coincides with the first day of the South by Southwest music conference in Austin, Texas. The fan-voted
list also includes (in descending order) Dale Watson & His Lone Stars,
Kevin Fowler, Asleep
at the Wheel, the Band of Heathens, Chaparral, Hayes
Carll, the Derailers, Alvin Crow and Heybale! Reckless Kelly placed
second in the roots rock band category, just behind PorterDavis. Reckless Kelly's most recent album, Bulletproof, was
released in 2008.
