Carrie Underwood to Be Inducted Into Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame

Carrie Underwood is one of three performers selected as this year's inductees into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame. The announcement was made Monday (Aug. 10) during a news conference at the Tulsa Press Club. Keyboardist Rocky Frisco and vocalist Ramona Reed are the other two nominees. Frisco is best known for his work as a member of singer-songwriter J.J. Cale's band. Reed performed on the Grand Ole Opry and the Ted Mack Amateur Hour TV show in the late '40s and began working for Bob Wills and his band, the Texas Playboys, in 1951. She toured with Wills and performed regularly at his club, the Bob Wills Ranch House, in Dallas. C.H. Parker, a longtime music instructor at Northeastern State University of Oklahoma in Tahlequah, will be presented the Governor's Award during the induction ceremony. He has served as coordinator of Downtown Country, an ongoing concert series that features student performers, including Underwood. She, Frisco and Reed will perform at the 13th annual Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame induction ceremony and concert set for Sept. 17 in Muskogee Civic Center.
