Johnny Reid Dominates Canadian Country Music Association Awards
Singer-songwriter Johnny Reid dominated the 2009 Canadian Country Music Association Awards that took place Sunday (Sept. 13)
in Vancouver, British Columbia. Reid claimed five awards, including the male artist and Fan's Choice honors. In addition to
an album of the year win for Dance With Me, his "A Woman Like You" was named CMT Canada's video of the year. Reid and
Brent Maher shared the songwriter of the year award for "A Woman Like You." Dean Brody won his first CCMA award for the single
of the year, "Brothers," and newcomer Tara Oram was named Rising Star. Singer-songwriter Crystal
Shawanda was named female artist of the year. Group or duo honors went to Doc
Walker, and Corb Lund was named roots artist or group of the year. Hosted by actor Jason Priestley, the awards show featured
performances by Reba McEntire, Martina
McBride and others.
