Kris Kristofferson and Patty
Loveless are among the artists releasing new albums on Tuesday (Sept. 29). Produced by Don Was, Kristofferson's Closer
to the Bone (New West) features 11 new songs and a bonus track of the first song he wrote at age 11. The album will also
be released as a deluxe two-CD set as well as a limited edition 180-gram vinyl. Loveless' Mountain Soul II (Saguaro
Road), featuring guest vocalists Vince Gill, Emmylou
Harris and Del McCoury, continues the acoustic approach taken
on her 2001 album, Mountain Soul. Other new releases include the
Avett Brothers' I and Love and You (American Recordings/Sony), the
Bellamy Brothers' The Anthology, Vol. 1 (self-released), Emmitt-Nershi Band's New Country Blues (SCI Fidelity),
Will Hoge's The Wreckage (Ryko), Robert Earl Keen's The
Rose Hotel (Lost Highway), Langhorne Slim's Be Set Free (Kernado), Corb Lund's Losin' Lately Gambler (New
West), Lynyrd Skynyrd's God & Guns (Loud & Proud/Roadrunner)
and Chris Smither's Time Stands Still (Signature Sounds/Mighty Albert).
