Levon Helm will return to the road for an appearance Saturday (Oct. 3) at the Austin City
Limits Music Festival in Austin, Texas. Helm, best known for his work in The Band, remains on vocal rest following recent
surgery to remove a lesion on his vocal cords. Helm had undergone surgery in 1998 after being diagnosed with throat cancer.
However, a biopsy from his latest surgery revealed no cancer, according to a spokesperson for Vanguard Records. Doctors attributed
the lesion to acid reflux. As a member of The Band, Helm sang lead vocals on such classics as "The Weight" and "The Night
They Drove Old Dixie Down." He released his latest solo album, Electric Dirt, in June. In addition to his appearance
in Texas, Helm and his band will perform on the Fox Business Network's TV simulcast of Don Imus' radio show on Oct. 9.
