Taylor Swift Awarded CMA International Artist Achievement Honor
Taylor Swift has become the newest recipient of the Country Music Association's
International Artist Achievement Award, CMA officials announced Thursday (Nov. 12). Brooks
& Dunn, who won the award last year, made the presentation earlier this week during rehearsals for the 43rd
annual CMA Awards that took place Wednesday (Nov. 11) in Nashville. Swift won in four categories, including entertainer
of the year, at the awards show. The CMA International Artist Achievement Award recognizes outstanding U.S.-based artists
who contribute the awareness and development of country music throughout the world. Swift's latest album, Fearless,
has achieved gold and platinum certifications in five continents and 14 nations. Her recording of "Love
Story" reached No. 1 in Australia, Singapore, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, and she performed promotional and concert
tours in Australia, Canada, Europe and the United Kingdom in 2008 and 2009. Previous recipients of the CMA's international
award include Shania Twain, Reba
McEntire, Dolly Parton, Keith
Urban, the Dixie Chicks, Dwight
Yoakam and Dierks Bentley.
