Johnny Cash's American VI will be released Feb. 26 by American Recordings/Lost
Highway, concluding his American Recordings album series. The release date coincides with the 78th anniversary of Cash's birth.
Produced by Rick Rubin, the collection includes songs written by Sheryl Crow ("Redemption
Day") and Kris Kristofferson ("For the Good Times"), as well as a Cash original,
"I Corinthians: 15:55," written over the last three years of his life. Other selections include Tom Paxton's "Can't Help but
Wonder Where I'm Bound," Bob Nolan's "Cool Water," Ed McCurdy's "Last Night I Had the Strangest Dream," J.H. Red Hayes and
Jack Rhodes' "Satisfied Mind" (a No. 1 hit for Porter Wagoner in 1955) and Queen Lili'uokalani's
song of farewell, "Aloha Oe." In addition, the Avett Brothers' Scott and Seth Avett
appear on one of the tracks, "Ain't No Grave." Cash died in 2003.
