Grammy Pre-Telecast Will Include All-Star Bluegrass Performance
A special bluegrass performance featuring Asleep at the Wheel Founder
Ray Benson, banjo player Alison
Brown, singer-songwriters Jim Lauderdale and Michael
Martin Murphey, guitarist Bryan Sutton and singer-fiddler Gabe Witcher
will be featured during Sunday's (Jan. 31) pre-telecast at the Grammy Awards in
Los Angeles. Benson is nominated in a new category, best Americana album, for Willie
Nelson & Asleep at the Wheel. Brown's "Under the (Five) Wire" is up for best country instrumental performance.
Among this year's nominees for best bluegrass albums are Murphey's Buckaroo Blue Grass, Sutton's Bryan Sutton and
Friends and Lauderdale's Could We Get Any Closer? The pre-telecast will be streamed live at grammy.com
beginning at 1 p.m. PT. The 52nd annual Grammy Awards will air live on CBS at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
