Mindy McCready Hospitalized for Possible Drug Overdose
Updated: May 25, 2010, 4:15 p.m. ET
Mindy McCready's mother says she may have overreacted Tuesday morning (May 25) when she reported the singer's possible drug overdose. In an interview with The News-Press in Fort Myers, Fla., Gayle Inge said she called 911 after having problems communicating with McCready, who was sitting at a computer. McCready, 34, broke her toe this past weekend. Acknowledging she gave her daughter two Darvocet pills to ease the pain, Inge said McCready's behavior raised concerns that she had possibly taken additional pills. "She was completely out of it, in and out," Inge told the newspaper. "I just jumped the gun and called 911. I was worried." McCready has a history of health and legal problems stemming from substance abuse. She recently appeared on the third season of VH1's Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew. McCready, best known for hits such as "Ten Thousand Angels" and "Guys Do It All the Time" during the mid '90s, released a new album, I'm Still Here, in March. A Fort Myers native, she appeared before a judge there last week in her efforts to gain custody of her 4-year-old son, Zander.
