Tift Merritt, Darrell Scott Release New Independent Albums
Tift Merritt and Darrell
Scott are among the artists releasing new independent albums Tuesday (May 25). Merritt's See You on the Moon (Fantasy/Concord)
was produced by Tucker Martine and recorded in North Carolina. Merritt wrote most of the material but also included a cover
of Kenny Loggins' "Danny's Song." Scott's A Crooked Road (Full Light/Thirty Tigers) is a double-disc set with 21 original
tracks. The Nashville-based singer-songwriter, whose songwriting credits include Travis
Tritt's "It's a Great Day to Be Alive" and
the Dixie Chicks' "Long Time Gone," recorded most of the album in his
home studio and played all of the instruments. Other new releases include the John Hartford String Band's Memories of John
(Compass), Declan McGarry's self-titled debut (LT Records), Allison Moorer's
Crows Acoustic (Ryko), Special Consensus' 35 (Compass), Truth and Salvage Co.'s self-titled debut (Silver Arrow/Megaforce)
and Hank Williams III's Rebel Within (Sidewalk).
