John Mayer presented Taylor Swift the Hal David Starlight Award during
Thursday night's (June 17) Songwriters Hall of Fame induction ceremony in New York City. The award pays tributes to promising
young songwriters. "You could put her in a time machine in any era and she would have a hit record," said Mayer. Commenting
on her immense success, he added, "Don't confuse everybody loving one thing as hype. Sometimes that's everyone agreeing that
it's fabulous." Swift, who performed "White Horse" during the ceremony, provided vocals to "Half of My Heart," a track on
Mayer's Battle Studies album. This year's Hall of Fame inductees included Leonard Cohen, Jackie DeShannon, David Foster
and the late Bob Marley and Laura Nyro. View
