Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame member Gary Burr, multiple-Grammy winners Sam Bush and Jim Lauderdale and country singer Jimmy Wayne are among the Music City composers set to perform at the first 7908' Aspen Songwriters Festival, Sept. 16-19 at the Wheeler Opera House in Aspen, Colo. (7908' refers to Aspen's elevation above sea level.) The event is being hosted by John Oates of Hall & Oates and will also feature performances by songwriters Jeff Barry ("Be My Baby," "I Honestly Love You," "Out of Hand"), Allen Toussaint ("What Do You Want the Girl to Do," "Southern Nights"), David Bromberg, Suzi Ragsdale, Tift Merritt and Jeff Black. Local and up-and-coming songwriters will be spotlighted at other Aspen venues.
