Gary Allan Raises $225,000 to Benefit Children With DiGeorge Syndrome
Gary Allan helped raise more than $225,000 to benefit children with DiGeorge
syndrome at a House of Blues concert in Chicago on July 22. The event was sponsored by the Ryan and Jenny Dempster Family
Foundation, created by the Chicago Cubs pitcher and his wife to honor their 15-month-old daughter, Riley, who was born with
DiGeorge syndrome. The concert also featured an opening set by Jaron
and the Long Road to Love ("Pray for You").
The crowd included Cubs players Ryan Theriot and Derrek Lee, former Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka and hockey players Adam
Burish, Danny Briere and Claude Giroux. DiGeorge syndrome, caused by deletions within the 22q11 chromosome, affect the physical
development of infants.
