Tom Douglas, co-writer with Allen Shamblin of the Miranda Lambert hit,
"The House That Built Me," is featured prominently
in a two-page article in Friday's (Aug. 13) issue of The Wall Street Journal. Also profiled in the feature titled "The
Secrets of Songwriters" are Americana singer-songwriter Tift Merritt and
The-Dream, the Atlanta-based singer-songwriter whose credits include Rihanna's "Umbrella" and Beyoncé's "Single Ladies
(Put a Ring on It)." Several other lyricists in other musical genres are spotlighted as well. John Jurgensen, who wrote the
article, follows Douglas to a songwriting session at Sony/ATV Music Publishing's reconverted firehouse on Music Row and recounts
the inspiration, history and development of "The House That Built Me." The article has a link to Douglas' demo of the song
and to Lambert's finished version.
