Faith Hill
Faith Hill was joined by a local favorite, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, in
New Orleans for a Tuesday night (Aug. 24) concert coinciding with the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. The event, billed
as "A Celebration of Hope," took place at the Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts. Prior to the performance, she
told
CMT Insider that New Orleans is still trying to fully recover from the devastation caused by the hurricane. "There
is sometimes a sense that people have forgotten, but the reality is, this town is rebuilding ... as is the coast of Mississippi
and Louisiana. It's no secret that this area just experienced another almost unimaginable disaster with the oil spill, and
in some ways that has devastated businesses even greater than Katrina. But you'll find the more you travel, the people of
this area -- of the coast, Mississippi, Louisiana, New Orleans -- love this place, and they are not going to leave." The interview
with Hill will be featured on the new episode of
CMT Insider premiering Saturday (Aug. 28) at 1:30 p.m. ET/PT.
