Singer-songwriter Justin Townes Earle has canceled his tour dates through Nov. 14 after deciding to enter a substance abuse rehab center. He was arrested and released on bond following his Sept. 16 arrest in Indianapolis on charges of battery, public intoxication and resisting law enforcement by force. The charges were filed in connection with an alleged altercation with an Indianapolis nightclub owner and the owner's daughter while Earle was appearing at the venue. Earle, 28, issued a statement earlier this week saying online reports of the incident were inaccurate. The cancellations include 21 performances in the U.S. during September and October and another 10 concerts in the United Kingdom in November. According to his website, he will return to the road for a Nov. 18 appearance at the Kent State Folk Festival in Kent, Ohio. Earle was named new and emerging artist of the year at the 2009 Americana Music Honors and Awards. He is the son of singer-songwriter Steve Earle.
