Kanye West has claimed that Taylor Swift "rode the waves" of a much-publicized confrontation they had at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, according to Us magazine. West made the comment during a surprise performance early Wednesday morning (Nov. 24) at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City, where he performed his new album. West told the crowd, "Taylor never came to my defense at any interview. And rode the waves and rode it and rode it." At the 2009 ceremony, West walked onstage unannounced during Swift's acceptance speech to tell the crowd that he believed her fellow nominee, Beyoncé, had made the better video.
