Johnny Cash
Unreleased material recorded by the late
Johnny Cash is featured on
From Memphis to
Hollywood: Bootleg Vol. II, a two-CD set released Tuesday (Feb. 22) by Columbia/Legacy. The recordings were retrieved
from his House of Cash office following his death in 2003. The compilation covers Cash's career at Sun Records in Memphis
from 1954 to late 1957 and his first 11 years at Columbia Records in Nashville from 1958 to 1969. It includes a 1955 broadcast
on Memphis radio station KWEM and 11 unreleased demos and seven outtakes during his tenure at Sun. The collection also features
11 previously-unreleased tracks along with non-album singles, outtakes and B-sides being released digitally for the first
time. The compilation follows the 2006 release of
Personal File, a two-CD set that included 49 privately-recorded performances
from 1973 to 1982.
