Larry Cordle, Larry Sparks Release New Bluegrass Albums
Longtime bluegrass favorites Larry Cordle and Larry Sparks each released new albums on Tuesday (March 15). Cordle's Pud Marcum's Hangin' (MightyCord) includes "Sometimes a Man Takes a Drink," a song he wrote that was recorded by Trace Adkins. Cordle's other songwriting credits include "Highway 40 Blues" by Ricky Skaggs and "Murder on Music Row" by Alan Jackson and George Strait. Meanwhile, Sparks' Almost Home (Rounder) offers a dozen new recordings by the two-time winner of the International Bluegrass Music Association's male vocalist award. In addition, singer-guitarist Josh Williams' Down Home has been re-released on Rounder Records just over a year after it was issued on Pinecastle Records, which suspended operations in 2010. Williams is a three-time winner of the IBMA guitarist of the year award, as well as the recipient of the IBMA's emerging artist award.
