Brian Setzer, the Grammy-winning rockabilly guitarist, covers songs by Bill Monroe and Earl Scruggs on his first all-instrumental album, Instru-MENTAL, released Tuesday (April 19) on the Surfdog label. The project includes Monroe's "Blue Moon of Kentucky," also recorded by Elvis Presley, as well as Scruggs' "Earl's Breakdown" and Gene Vincent's "Be-Bop-a-Lula." In addition, Setzer recorded six original songs for the project, including "Go-Go Godzilla," also featured on the Soul Surfer film soundtrack. Setzer gained fame in the '80s as the frontman for the Stray Cats.
