Beyoncé has released a version of Lee Greenwood's country classic, "God Bless the U.S.A.," to raise money for 9/11 charities. The song premiered Thursday night (May 5) on CNN's Piers Morgan Tonight. Beyoncé sang the patriotic ballad during President Obama's campaign in 2008 but the studio version had remained unreleased. The track is available on iTunes. Proceeds will go to the New York Police & Fire Widows' & Children's Benefit Fund. "I cannot think about anything more appropriate to do to help these families," she said. "Almost 10 years [after 9/11], it is still so painful for all Americans, especially those who lost loved ones."
