The 2011
CMA Music Festival brought a record $30 million in tourism spending
this month, according to Smith Travel Research, a data tracking firm. The four-day event attracted 65,000 country fans and
helped fill an estimated 110,000 hotel rooms, according to the study. The 2010 event brought in an estimated $24 million.
The CMA is still tabulating this year's official revenue. Half of the event's proceeds will benefit the organization's campaign
to keep music in local schools. A three-hour special,
CMA Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock, will air Aug. 7
on ABC.
