The Oak Ridge Boys, known for hits like "Elvira" and "Bobby Sue," were invited
to join the Grand Ole Opry on Friday night (July 8). The quartet of William Lee Golden, Joe Bonsall, Richard Sterban and Duane
Allen will officially become part of the cast on Aug. 6.
Little Jimmy Dickens,
wearing a long beard and sunglasses in tribute to Golden's signature look, walked onstage just after the group's performance
of "Y'All Come Back Saloon." After they accepted the offer, the group performed "Elvira" and later returned to the stage to
join
Larry Gatlin on "All the Gold in California." The Oak Ridge Boys charted 34 Top
10 singles between 1977 and 1991, including 17 No. 1 hits.
