The
Dixie Chicks,
Court
Yard Hounds,
John Mayer, Maroon 5 and R.E.M are among more than 30 artists
involved in launching the Fans First Coalition, a nationwide, not-for-profit organization dedicated to protecting fans from
fraudulent and unscrupulous ticket practices. The organization aims to curtail ticket scalping and to raise awareness of the
business practices of ticket resale sites. Maroon 5 lead vocalist Adam Levine said, "We need to make sure that fans get the
tickets, and not scalpers. Fans First is fighting to do just that. Our band wants our tickets to be sold at the face value
that we set, so that the real fans can get the tickets -- not scalpers." Other artists involved in the organization include
Jason Mraz, Jennifer Hudson, Kenny G, Megadeth, Bo Bice and Earth, Wind and Fire. The initiative is also being supported by
several professional sports teams, artist management companies and more than 60 venues in the U.S. More information is available
