Suzy Bogguss and John Hiatt are among the artists releasing new independent albums on Tuesday (Aug. 2). Bogguss' American Folk Songbook features her interpretations of standards such as "Shenandoah," "Red River Valley" and "Wayfaring Stranger." She also wrote a companion songbook for the project, initially released in July in Cracker Barrel stores. Her country hits include "Drive South" (written by Hiatt), "Aces" and "Outbound Plane." Meanwhile, Hiatt's new album, Dirty Jeans and Mudslide Hymns, features 11 original songs, including one of his earliest compositions, "Train to Birmingham." Other new independent releases include bluegrass group Dehlia Low's Ravens & Crows, blues singer-songwriter Keb Mo's The Reflection, Americana songwriter Muzikanto's Sky of Dresses and gospel bluegrass band Paul Williams & the Victory Trio's Satisfied.
