Steve Martin and the
Steep Canyon Rangers are among the initial performers announced
for the International Bluegrass Music Association Awards show set for Sept. 29 at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium. Other performers
announced include Balsam Range, the Boxcars,
Dailey & Vincent,
the
Grascals, the Gibson Brothers, Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out,
Sierra Hull &
Highway 111 and the show's host,
Sam Bush. The awards show is the highlight of the trade
organization's World of Bluegrass Week taking place Sept. 26-Oct. 2 in Nashville. The activities also include the IBMA Business
Conference and Bluegrass Fan Fest. The awards show will be broadcast live on Sirius XM Satellite Radio and syndicated to more
than 300 U.S. markets and 14 foreign networks. In related news, Sammy Shelor, bandleader and banjo player with the Lonesome
River Band, has been selected as the second winner of the Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass. The Lonesome
River Band will perform with Martin on the
Late Show With David Letterman on Nov. 3.
