and wife Katherine have announced the arrival of their first
child, a son named Boone McCoy Church, who was born Monday (Oct. 3) at a Nashville hospital. He weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces.
"Everybody always tells you what an awesome and unique experience being a parent is," Church said. "Words can never do the
feeling justice. I am very thankful and blessed to have a healthy and happy baby boy and baby mama." Church has been touring
extensively to promote his latest album,
Chief, but plans to reduce his concert schedule throughout the remainder of
the year. He's scheduled to perform Friday (Oct. 7) in Charlotte, N.C., Saturday in Atlanta and Sunday in Mobile, Ala. "It
will be interesting to see how this new chapter in our life manifests itself musically," he said. "I've always made music
that was representative of real life. Life doesn't get more real than having a newborn at home."
