Taylor Swift will not join the cast of the upcoming Les Misérables film, with the role of Eponine officially going to British actress Samantha Barks. The original stage producer and film director, Cameron Mackintosh, made the announcement on Tuesday (Jan. 31) in London, where Barks was performing in Oliver!, according to the Los Angeles Times. In January, Broadwayworld.com reported that Swift had been offered the role, although a statement was never released that she had accepted or considered it. The movie will begin filming in March and is expected to be released in December. Les Misérables is the world's longest-running musical.
