Reba McEntire's new sitcom project, Malibu Country, has been picked up by ABC, according to thewrap.com, a TV industry website. The sitcom will be written by Kevin Abbott, executive producer of her former sitcom, Reba. The new series will star McEntire as a singer who moves to Malibu with her mother and three children to revive her singing career shortly after her rock-star husband cheats on her and spends most of her money. McEntire will also executive-produce the ABC Studios pilot, along with Mindy Schultheis, Michael Hanel, Pam Williams, Dave Stewart and Narvel Blackstock, according to the website.
