Rodney Atkins
Rodney Atkins has been cleared of a domestic assault charge in connection
with an argument with his wife Tammy at their Nashville-area home. A county judge in Franklin, Tenn., ruled Wednesday (Feb.
8) that the misdemeanor charge will be expunged from his record if he completes a series of court-ordered mandates. On Nov.
21, Tammy Atkins called police and claimed he had been drinking alcohol when he tried to smother her with a pillow and threw
her down a hallway during the argument. After being arrested and quickly released on $2,500 bail, he denied all charges and
filed for divorce. He has voluntarily undergone and passed court-ordered assessments for anger management and substance abuse.
In retiring the charge, the judge also ordered Atkins to complete 30 hours of community service in an endeavor that is not
related to music. He's scheduled to perform Thursday (Feb. 9) in Jackson, Miss.
