Rodney Crowell and author Mary Karr have co-written an album, Kin, to be released on June 5 on Vanguard Records. Produced by Joe Henry, the album is Karr's first musical project. Her best-selling memoirs include Cherry, The Liar's Club and Lit. Crowell was a fan of her writing and reached out to her as a collaborator. Crowell sings two of their songs, while the others are performed by artists such as Rosanne Cash, Vince Gill, Emmylou Harris, Norah Jones, Kris Kristofferson, Lucinda Williams, Lee Ann Womack and Chely Wright.
