Lon Helton, host of
CMT Country Countdown USA, has been named the Academy of Country Music's national on-air personality
of the year. The ACM announced its radio winners Wednesday (Feb. 15). The radio station of the year winners are WQYK/Tampa-St.
Petersburg, Fla. (major market), WQDR/Raleigh, N.C. (large market), KATM/Stockton, Calif. (medium market) and WUSY/Chattanooga,
Tenn. (small market). On-air personality of the year winners in local markets include Kelly Ford & Rider of KYGO/Denver
(major market) and Big Dave and Chelsie of WUBE/Cincinnati (large market). Steve & Geoff in the Morning of KUZZ/Bakersfield,
Calif., and Roger, Tom & Melissa of WPCV/Lakeland, Fla., tied in the medium market division while Bill Barrett, Tim Fox
and Tracy Berry of KKNU/Eugene, Ore., won in the small market category. The awards will be presented in Las Vegas on March
31, the night before the 47th annual ACM Awards.
