Kentucky Headhunters,
Exile and the late
Skeeter Davis will be inducted into the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame in 2013. In an announcement
made Tuesday (March 13), singer-songwriter Steven Curtis Chapman was also confirmed as one of the four acts to be inducted
in the contemporary category. The Kentucky Headhunters came to national prominence in the late '80s with hits such as "Dumas
Walker," "Walk Softly on This Heart of Mine" and "Oh Lonesome Me." Exile scored a major pop hit in 1978 with "Kiss You All
Over" and later topped
Billboard's country chart with 10 singles, including "Woke Up in Love" and "Give Me One More
Chance." Davis, who died in 2004, was a longtime member of the Grand Ole Opry best known for her 1962 hit, "The End of the
World." Chapman is one of the most successful contemporary Christian artists of the past two decades. Also set to join the
Hall of Fame in 2013 are pioneer inductees the Hilltoppers, Old Joe Clark and Emory & Linda Martin. The Hilltoppers, a
pop vocal group, enjoyed success in the early '50s with hits such as "Trying" and "P.S. I Love You." Clark and the Martins
were performers on the Renfro Valley Barn Dance.
